Dear Parents, Grow Up, Will You?

Dear parents, we are not small-you, junior-you, or undeveloped-you.. so stop making us live the life YOU want to live.

Dear parents, your children's future depends on their mature mentality for not taking people'shits.. including yours!

Dear parents, YOU are successful parents if your children can wisely choose NOT to follow each and every words you say..

Dear parents, part of your parenting responsibility is to EDUCATE your children to be able to DISAGREE with your decisions!

Dear parents, we love&respect you, but it doesn't mean obeying all your shits.. just like you did to us when we're kids. ;)

Dear parents, awesome parenting is facilitating, good parenting is educating, asshole parenting is controlling..

Dear parents, differentiate PARENT-ing and PET-ting.. we are not your pets, you don't own us for your comfort&pleasure.

Dear parents, we know parenting is tough.. but it's not an excuse for you to act like assholes!

Dear parents.. grow up will you?

Life is Too Short, Indeed

Life is too short to lead double life. Life is too short to lead life people want you to lead. Life is too short to lead it only to comply to mainstream or majority values or norms.

You can't make people happy, if you, your own self is not happy, can you?

Mainstream or majority way of life is not the only way to live. If one's way of life is different with mainstream values, it doesn't mean he/she can't be happy.

I view self-contentment as a freedom to choose or lead life as we want it in pursuit of happiness; as long as it doesn't violate others right and doesn't inhibit one to be socially functional as part as society.

Yes, it takes courage to be different. But I think once you've found your inner peace / accept the core you / find peace with yourself / comfortable with your self, external won't matter.

As Gie (an activist from Indonesia) said,
"Lebih baik diasingkan daripada menyerah pada kemunafikan".
Translate (more and less): I'd rather to be exiled then surrender to hypocrisy. Of course, it's easy to say, but on reality, it's such a struggle.

However, to all the people out there, who managed and bravely stand for your self, hats off for you. I salute you all. You are the true hero in life, your own life.
Cheers.
